Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Botox?
Botox is a botulinum toxin injected to reduce wrinkles, reduce jaw size, reshape the face, and reduce muscle activity in the injected area, resulting in a slimmer face and a more defined jawline. It also makes the skin look smoother and younger. It is commonly used to reduce wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the eyebrows.
Who is Botox suitable for?
Botox is a treatment for reducing facial wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the eyebrows. It can also contour the face by decreasing jaw size and reducing muscle bulk in the calves, shoulders, and upper back, creating a slimmer appearance. Additionally, Botox is effective in minimizing excessive sweating in the armpits, palms, and soles of the feet.
How long does Botox last?
Results will begin to be noticeable in about 1-2 weeks and last for approximately 4-6 months.
How to care for yourself before getting a Botox injection?
Before getting a Botox injection, avoid alcohol, medications, and supplements that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin, vitamin E, and fish oil, for 24 hours before the injection. Avoid laser treatments or other treatments that may irritate your skin. Get enough rest, drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, and inform your doctor about any underlying medical conditions or medications you are taking.
Post-Botox Care Instructions
After a Botox injection, avoid lying flat or bending your head down for 4 hours. Avoid massaging, pressing, or touching the injection site to reduce the risk of the medication spreading to the wrong area. Avoid strenuous exercise and high heat, such as saunas or steam rooms, for the first 24 hours. Avoid alcohol and fermented foods to reduce swelling, and drink plenty of water to help the Botox work better.
